Guest profile
We have been open for the past 2 yrs. Most of the guests are from the UK,
Europe and USA with a few from India too. A mix of solos, couples and families.
Children are welcome. Guests with children should be cautious of the open
water front and canals inside the farm.
Best time
Definitely October to March. But if you don’t mind the rains, then
the rest of the year is also fine. We are open all year. Discounted rates
are available from April to September.
Length of stay
Two or three nights if you are looking at a minimum. Anything upto 2 weeks
or even a little more is fine especially for those who have Ayurveda, cooking
classes or other specific activities like writing or painting in mind.
What to bring along
Clothing that is loose fitting and suited to the warm weather and the local
sensitivities and etiquette. Sunglasses, cream and insect repellent would
also make sense and plenty of books if you like reading (we have a small
collection of books). Suggested readings - Arundhatti Roy’s ‘God
of Small Things’ which was set in Aymanam, a village further upstream
and Alexander Frater’s ‘Chasing the Monsoon’ which like
the monsoon begins with Kerala.
How to reach
Located about 11/2 hrs. (75 kms.) from Kochi (Cochin) International Airport,
40 minutes (20 kms.) from Kottayam and 45 minutes (25 kms.) from Alleppey,
Philipkutty’s farm is well connected by land. The property can be
accessed by a boat too. If needed, we can arrange for transfers on request,
at an additional cost.
